Greens’ wealth tax was always the thin end of the wedge

The Taxpayers’ Union says Chlöe Swarbrick’s admission that she wants to lower the Greens’ $10 million wealth tax threshold confirms what taxpayers knew all along.

Taxpayers’ Union Spokesman Austin Ellingham-Banks said

“The Greens have now said the quiet part out loud, but it didn’t take Chlöe Swarbrick admitting they’d lower the wealth tax threshold for everyone to know that their tax would expand. With 89 cents in every dollar of the Greens’ spending promises completely unfunded, it was always obvious they’d need to come back for more. That $117,550-per-household gaping hole isn’t going to fill itself.”

“Family homes, farmers, and small businesses are now firmly back in the Greens’ firing line. These new taxes are always just the thin end of the wedge.”
