Lower Taxes, Less Waste,

Championing Value For Money From Every Tax Dollar

11-year unemployment high demands fiscal reset

Responding to unemployment reaching its highest level in 11 years, Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson Tory Relf said:

“Unemployment at an 11-year high is a clear warning that stronger business confidence has yet to translate into jobs, particularly for young New Zealanders.”

“Monetary policy cannot do all the heavy lifting. The Government must reduce the burden it places on businesses and consumers by cutting wasteful spending, lowering costs and creating the conditions for private-sector growth.”

“Shuffling money between programmes is not a saving. Our Back to Black plan shows where billions can be cut, and the Government needs to get on with the job it was elected to do.”
