The Taxpayers’ Union has released its Taxpayer Manifesto, setting out five bottom lines every party should be judged against before the 2026 General Election and any incoming Government should be expected to sign up to in coalition negotiations.
The five bottom lines are:
- Stop taxing New Zealanders more
- Cut waste and balance the books
- Make government answer to taxpayers
- Put councils back in their lane
- Let New Zealand build and grow
