Nosey Parker
Our Nosey Parker campaign fought to overturn sweeping powers rushed through by the Labour Government during COVID that allowed IRD to demand deeply personal information from taxpayers, even when it had nothing to do with their tax obligations.
We mobilised thousands of New Zealanders to push back against the intrusion and spent three years campaigning to restore taxpayers’ privacy, and we won in 2025, with Revenue Minister Simon Watts announcing that the powers under Section 17GB will be scrapped.
