Labour’s KiwiSaver policy would make employing New Zealanders more expensive while dodging the growing cost of Super altogether, says Taxpayers’ Union Policy Analyst Austin Ellingham-Banks:
“Super is forecast to cost taxpayers $12,790-per-household this year, with costs expected to almost triple by 2048. That is the retirement problem politicians should be confronting.”
“Instead, Labour is running away from Super reform and slapping employers with a compulsory 6 percent payroll cost. You get less of what you tax, and making workers more expensive means fewer jobs, weaker wages and worse opportunities.”
