Responding to Labour’s release of its manifesto today, Taxpayers’ Union spokesman James Ross said:
“Labour’s manifesto fails to explain the $18 billion hole in its fiscal plan, including up to $5.5 billion in uncosted foreign aid commitments. Its completely uncosted promise to expand the abuse-in-care redress system could add another $1.2 billion. All in, that’s more than $9,200 per household in funding unaccounted for.”
“Labour has already spent every dollar of its forecast capital gains tax revenue, and the numbers still don’t add up. So how does Hipkins plug the gap? Expand the CGT, adopt Chlöe Swarbrick’s wealth tax, or return to form and put the lot on the credit card?”
