Jordan Williams to stand down from Taxpayers' Union

The Taxpayers' Union has confirmed that co-founder and Executive Director Jordan Williams will be standing down as a result of the Prime Minister's announcement of a referendum on MMP.

On the passage of the referenda legislation - expected next year, if National is returned to Government - Mr Williams says he will stand down to fight for electoral change and increased accountability full time.

"MMP is flawed. The people vote ratbags out only for them to sneak back into Parliament as a list MP. It's time for change."

As an organisation, the Taxpayers' Union is yet to take a position on the referendum question and will be consulting with its members.
