The Taxpayers’ Union is welcoming the Green Party’s proposal for a two-year stand-down period preventing former Ministers from immediately becoming lobbyists.
Taxpayers’ Union spokeswoman, Ella Dickson, said:
“Ministers shouldn’t be able to walk out of the Beehive on Friday and into a lobbying job on Monday, selling the access and relationships they built in office.
“A clear cooling-off period would give the public confidence that political connections aren’t being turned into private advantage.
“The Greens deserve credit for putting a sensible guardrail around the revolving door between politics and lobbying.”
