The Taxpayers’ Union is slamming the Green Party’s latest $5.9 billion business spending promise, equivalent to $2,850 per household, funded by redirecting the Government’s Investment Boost tax deduction.
Taxpayers’ Union spokesperson James Ross said:
“The Greens’ idea of growing the economy is to tax businesses more for investing, then hand $5.9 billion to whichever industries their politicians fancy. Who seriously thinks Chlöe Swarbrick knows what a business needs better than the people running it?
“Between this and their youth jobs scheme, the Greens will blow through a quarter of a trillion dollars in new spending promises on the Bribe-O-Meter. At this point, they’re barely even pretending anymore that they can raise enough to fund their $120,000-per-household spend-up.”
“If Chlöe Swarbrick believed in Kiwi ingenuity, she’d back businesses investing their own money. Instead, she wants to penalise investment and put politicians in charge of picking winners. With government debt smashing past $300 billion this Friday, taxpayers can’t afford that gamble.”
