Championing Value For Money From Every Tax Dollar

Stop the last-minute undemocratic partnership agreements

Democracy Defence Fund

Councils are rushing to lock in Mana Whakahono ā Rohe agreements before the Resource Management Act is replaced.

These agreements influence planning and resource-consent decisions—and cannot be changed or terminated without every party’s consent.

The Taxpayers’ Union is campaigning to ensure rushed agreements are not carried into the new system and that decisions affecting property rights remain democratically accountable.

Your donation will help us expose and scrutinise these agreements, alert ratepayers, commission legal analysis, and put pressure on Ministers to protect local democracy.

Time is running out. The Government intends to pass its RMA replacement legislation before Parliament rises for the election in just a few months. As drafted, the bills grandfather existing agreements.

Donations are confidential and processed securely. If you would rather donate by internet banking, the details are here.

Every dollar donated through this page will fund our campaign to protect local democracy, accountability and democratic control of resource management.
