Dear Minister Willis,

I'm emailing to express my support in your plan to deliver on your pre-election promise of tax relief for working New Zealanders.

Times are tough for many Kiwis, as household face a cost-of-living crisis.

Incredibly, the media would have you think that no one wants tax relief, or that now is not the right now.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

However much the media and bureaucracy protest, know that I – and the vast majority of New Zealanders – are behind you every step of the way.

Government spending has increased by 84% since 2017, but outcomes in health, education, social services, and law and order have been in free fall.

It is clear that throwing more money at these problems isn't working, it is time to be smarter about how our money is spent by focusing on outcomes, not on spending more.

Those who least feel the impacts of the cost-of-living crisis are trying to paint a false choice between getting the books back in order and providing much-needed tax relief. I know that if you can get wasteful and inefficient spending under control, you can (and must) do both.

I want you to know that you have my support in delivering the tax relief New Zealand needs.
