Dear Prime Minister,
I am emailing to support the Taxpayers Union calls for the Government to implement meaningful tax relief and income tax bracket indexation as part of Budget 2017.
The Union has published<a href="http://taxpayers.org.nz/5_options"> this report showing that because tax thresholds have not been adjusted with inflation, the average Kiwi worker is now paying $483 more per year in tax than in 2010.</a>
The report models five different ways tax relief could be delivered for less than the $3 billion John Key said would be necessary to deliver 'meaningful' relief to Kiwi workers.
Mr English, your Government has stood on a platform of fiscal prudence and lower taxes but your record is 10.36 billion dollars in extra spending and only $415 million in tax relief. With fiscal conditions now rosy, and New Zealanders paying so much more in tax, it's time to walk the walk and not just talk the talk on reducing the tax burden.
