Democracy is under attack. Instead of protecting and encouraging local councillors following the will of the people, LGNZ (and council officials) are trying to exclude councillors following through on their democratic mandates. What’s worse, it seems to only apply to those councillors who campaign for fiscal restraint, less spending, and lower rates. Councillors who campaign and champion big spending projects like cycleways seem to get away with it.
