The Taxpayers’ Union is calling on Labour to release its own costing for its pay equity policy after disputing Treasury’s figures but refusing to provide an alternative.
Taxpayers’ Union spokeswoman, Ella Dickson, said:
“Treasury’s own projections put the cost at $10.97 billion. Labour disputes that figure, but Barbara Edmonds still won’t say what Labour thinks it will cost."
“Chris Hipkins said the policy would be budgeted after PREFU, now taxpayers are told to wait until after the election."
“Taxpayers deserve to know what Labour’s promises will cost before they vote, not after. If Labour says Treasury is wrong, it needs to come clean with the numbers it claims are right.”
